Christmas celebration with the underprivileged this year!

On 14th December 2011, the staff of Christian Media Centre-India, visited the Missionaries of Charity Home for ladies  run  by Nuns at Ennore, 30 kilo meters away from Chennai to celebrate Christmas.  Most of the destitute ladies at the Home were mentally challenged. They were so happy to see us  with one of our staff in the Santa clause costume.  They enjoyed themselves, dancing and singing. The Christian Media Centre-India distributed new cloths  for 120 ladies and cakes. Lunch was sponsored by another organization who joined with us in the celebration at the home.

LHM – INDIA – Youth Clubs

Our Youth Ministry programs attract many villages. In the month of September 2011 we inaugurated fifteen new Youth Clubs  known as “Vaanmalar Ilainger Narpani Mandrum”. Out of this fifteen, eleven are in Kancheepuram District of Tamilnadu. Two clubs are in Tiruvallur Dist. The other two are in Chittoor District in Andhra Pradesh. Among these two, the one is Tamil language and other is Telugu language clubs.  Youth Club activities are praised by the public.

There is one story we want to share with you. Sometime back on one night a man who was travelling in a train, weaf to the bath room around 2 O’clock in the mid night. As he was in a sleepy mood,  he fell out of the train by accident. He was thrown out of the train by his carelessness and fell unconscious. No one in the train knew this matter. The rail road was parallel to the village and little higher level from the village. The man who fell from the train was lying on the road near the village unconscious. Somebody who came out in the early hours found out that a body was lying near the track and he alerted the youth club members in that village. The news was conveyed to all the members of Club in the village. Everybody gathered on the spot immediately and confirmed that he was alive.  Immediately the club members called for an ambulance and shifted him to the hospital and stayed in the hospital until the man regained his conscious. The man was rescued by this timely help.

The next day the news was published in the local daily news paper and the Government officials and Doctors appreciated this act of love and called them “the good Samaritans of Gundrajkuppam”. This was narrated by the secretary of the Club as a testimony on the stage on their first anniversary celebrated on 18th September 2011. This Club also won trophies and shield in Volley Ball games representing our Club in the District level sports meet. We congratulate such Youth Club who brought fame and name to our Ministry in India.

Mr. Samson, he himself a Gipsy man expressed his desire to start a Vaanmalar youth Club in his village at Athigathur in Thiruvallur Dist., and it was started on 17th September 2011. The other club which was started in the hamlet of the Irula community at Nandiampakkam, near Ennoor, Chennai,  one Ms. Vidya, young lawyer practicing in the Madras High Court, strives hard to bring development to this village, children and Youth through the activities of our Vaanmalar Ilainger Narpani Mandrum. Ministries in Telugu Area

The Christian Media Centre – India is the pioneer institution in the Christian Mass Media Ministry in India. We were broadcasting our programs in Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi languages through radio programs. Because of the change of time and advancement in technology we dropped the radio programs in all these languages. Now, we shifted these programs to Internet Radio, but until now we had no programs or Ministry activities in the Telugu language. Now we entered into the Telugu language areas through our Ministry programs. We started with our Free Bible Correspondence Courses. Then we entered into Youth Ministry programs. Now we have more than twenty Youth Clubs in 20 villages which is known as SWARGA SUMAMU YUVAJANA SANGAMU.

Also with the help of local evangelists and volunteers we arrange for Evangelism Seminars which we call ETS (Equipping the Saints). Through these Seminars we train and engage the lay people to do Gospel work in their localities according to their situation and opportunities. Recently we held one such ETS meeting near Chennai. You can view some pictures taken on that occasion. It is all carried out with the support of people like you.  Pray for us; support this ministry with your generous offerings. You can send you gifts to Christian Media Centre – India, 47 Eldams Road, Teynampet, Chennai 18.

Youth Ministry in Dharmapuri District

Recently we started five Vaanmalar Youth Clubs in five different villages in Dharmapuri District. This is known as one among the most backward districts in Tamilnadu state in India. Villagers are starving for clean drinking water, roads are in poor condition, unemployment is a big problem, cultivation is in a poor condition because of lack of water resources, in this condition the Youth of this area are also affected. We decided to help the youth of this region to empower them through our Youth Club activities with the help of some local independent pastors.
We created five youth Clubs in five different villages. All these clubs were supplied with a Sign Board in which they can write one Bible verse every day and also the local information and news for communicating with the society. Every Club was presented with a Carom Board with coins and a net, a ring ball, so that they can come together, spend some time in playing and spend their time in fellowship.
We insist each club members must arrange for Free Tuition to the poor village children who are in school education, to empower them for a bright future through Education these clubs must spend atleast one day in cleaning the public places and repairing the village roads and helping the local church and community people like old age persons if they have any problems and needs any help. By all means these club members must lead a life of witness as children of God in their localities; this is our aim.
The local evangelists and Gospel workers find this Youth Ministry program a best tool for them in building the God’s kingdom in those remote villages among and through the youth of villages. Please pray for the youth of India especially from the remote villages where Vaanmalar Youth clubs of the Lutheran Hour Ministries try to help the youth of these poor villages. There are more demands for starting our Youth Clubs from many villages and workers. The evangelists find this program help building their ministry, which leads youngsters into Church. Please pray for the youth of India and the attempts like Vaanmalar Clubs to attract them and guide them to lead God pleasing life. Your kind donations are welcome. You can support these ministries with your generous contribution. You can send you gifts to Christian Media Centre – India, 47 Eldams Road, Teynampet, Chennai 18.

60th Anniversary Thanksgiving Prayer

We thank God our Father, our savior Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit, for leading us 60 long years in this country as a pioneer Organization in the Mass Media field among Christians. With a humble beginning in the year 1951, in a small rented building, it has been a long way with different names such as BC-TN, Lutheran Centre, The Christian Arts and Communication Services (CACS) and now the Christian Media Centre – India (CMCI).
We the staff of the Lutheran Hour – India feel happy and proud to be in the services of the Lord proclaiming the Good News in this country through Mass Media tools for the last 60 years. With all humbleness, we praise God and praise His Holy name with a thankful heart for all His providence, guidance in leading us towards the future with great hope and strength. Come join us, let us the take the Gospel forward. Please pray for us and support this wonderful Ministry. We wish to share some pictures taken on 16th July 2011 when we arranged for a small prayer meeting, attended by our leaders from our Head Quarters in the United States, Mr. Bruce Wurdeman, the Executive Director of Lutheran Hour Ministries, Rev. Dr. Douglas Rutt, our Director for International Ministries and Mrs. Gunya Na Thalang our Asia Area Co-ordinator.

Nearly 300 members with different health problems were benefited through this free services extended by the Lutheran Hour Ministry Centre.
The second Camp was held at Athimanjeripet in the Tiruvallur District on 29th May 2011. Five Doctors including one eye Specialist voluntarily came forward to lend their services for the needy and poor people of that area. We had the help of one Christian hospital which is famous in the southern part of India which helped for the grand success of the Camp.
The Camps started at 9.30 in the morning and closed by 4.00 o’clock in the evening. It was a great success.
The Free Medical Camps conducted by our Ministry Centre is entirely a new experience in our Ministry during the last 60 years in the Holistic Ministry side.
